Safeguarding statement

Last updated 18 September 2026

Strand Tutors teaches children and young people, and their safety comes before everything else we do. This statement sets out the practical steps we take and how to raise a concern.

Our commitments

  • Enhanced DBS checks. Every tutor holds an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service certificate, including the children’s barred list check. Certificates are available for parents and carers to see on request.
  • Two adults, one room. Both tutors teach in the same classroom at the same time. A student is never alone with a single tutor in a closed room.
  • Parents are welcome. You may stay for the free assessment and, by arrangement, sit in on a session.
  • Communication goes through you. We contact students under 18 only through their parent or carer. Tutors do not exchange personal phone numbers or social media contacts with students, and any messages about the tuition are sent to the parent or carer.
  • Drop-off and collection. Students are handed over to a parent or carer at the end of each session unless you have told us in writing that they may leave alone or with a named person.
  • Respect. Bullying, discrimination and unkind behaviour are not tolerated at our tables, and we act on them straight away.
  • Information. We hold only the information we need to teach and safeguard each student, as set out in our privacy notice, and we never publish a student’s name, image or results without your written permission.

If a student tells us something worrying

If a student discloses something that suggests they or another child may be at risk of harm, we will listen, take it seriously, and record what was said. We will not promise to keep it secret. We will pass the concern to the appropriate people, which will normally mean talking to the parent or carer and, where a child may be at risk, contacting the local authority’s children’s services or the police. We will follow any advice they give.

Raising a concern with us

The directors of Strand Tutors Ltd are jointly responsible for safeguarding. If you have any concern about a student’s welfare, or about the conduct of anyone connected with Strand Tutors, please contact us:

  • Phone or WhatsApp: 07443 921965
  • Email: info@strandtutors.co.uk

We will acknowledge your concern within one working day.

If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.

For advice about a child’s welfare at any time, the NSPCC helpline is free and confidential: 0808 800 5000. Children and young people can contact Childline on 0800 1111.

The venue is in the City of Westminster. Westminster children’s services can be reached on 020 7641 4000.
